Provider Notes:
| In addition to supervised visits and exchanges The Visitation House also offers a Families in Transition (F.I.T.) Program and Mediation.
The Visitation House is currently offering court mandated and self-referred educational classes for separating and divorcing parents. During this critical time, it is essential that parents are aware of their child’s needs. Our staff will work with each client individually to best serve their unique concerns and situations. These meetings will be scheduled according to the client’s schedule and availability to meet requirements in a timely manner. Once the initial orientation has been completed, additional sessions will be scheduled to move forward with the program. A minimum of 3 hours will be met for those clients using this program for their court ordered requirement, with a $35 fee. Certificates of attendance will be awarded to parties who complete all requirements. If necessary, the court will also receive a copy of your certificate to verify completion of the program. Additional sessions will also be held for children experiencing separation so that they can communicate their concerns as well, free of charge.
Mediation
Mediation is a non-adversarial method of resolving conflict that involves disputing parties sitting down together with a skilled impartial individual, called a mediator, who helps them work out a voluntary solution to the problem that is acceptable to everyone involved. This program can be used to resolve disputes quickly, before they escalate and result in the need to use more expensive, time-consuming, and stressful conflict resolution methods. The Visitation House is the only facility in Darke County that offers mediation. Clients seeking a cost effective alternative to attorneys are encouraged to utilize this mediation program in order to avoid drawn out court cases and to reach an agreement on their own. Clients will be charged for this program on a sliding scale.
