Provider Notes: The KID Supervised and Therapeutic Family Visitation Program provides court-ordered supervised and therapeutic visitation services between children and their non-custodial parents. The KID Visitation Program is designed to ensure the safety and welfare of children and adults during family visits and promote a positive relationship between the non-custodial parent and the child in a neutral, structured environment. Every visit is followed up with a written report to the Courts regarding the contact between the parent and child. Families in Broward County with children ages birth through 18 are eligible.

Therapeutic and supervised visitations take place once a week for 8-10 weeks. The non-custodial parent may be charged a sliding per-visit fee, determined by the Court at the time services are requested.

Supervised Visitation involves a 90-minute visit between a non-custodial parent and one or more children, in the presence of a Visitation Specialist who is responsible for observing the visit and ensuring the safety of everyone involved. A written report of what was observed during the visit is provided to the Court.

Therapeutic Visitation involves a 90-minute supervised visit between the child and non-custodial parent. A certified or licensed mental health professional is present, and will often utilize role-play to help improve the way the parent and child communicate and behave with each other. Evaluations and recommendations to the Court for further parent and child contact may be made following the visit.

Safe Exchange is an unsupervised visit between non-custodial parent and the child. A Visitation Specialist only monitors the exchange of the child between the custodial and non-custodial parent and has no further involvement in the visit.
