Family Priorities understands that supervised visitation is not a parent's preferred choice in how they spend time with their child.
Regardless of the reason that supervised visitation is required, it does not have to be a negative experience. Supervised visitation can be a tool that helps families improve negative situations, keeps families connected and maintains parent-child, sibling and extended-family bonds during difficult and transitional times.
Family Priorities realizes every situation is different, and the circumstances of each family vary, therefore we believe that supervised visitation is not one size fits all. We believe that each session should be a quality interaction and not just a parent-child visit.
We offer the opportunity for a variety of parent-child activities, as well as more frequent and longer visits than those offered by other agencies. Parents and kids have time to settle in without feeling rushed. Parents have ample time to help their children with homework and work on school projects.
We also offer opportunities for family visit days where grandparents and other relatives are able to participate in visits. We provide varying levels of supervision: i.e. monitored; supervised; coached and skills.
Our location near Schenectady's Central Park offers the opportunity to expand into off site activities such as walks, picnics, duck feeding and even fishing! We also have a private picnic area on site for parents to enjoy a meal with their children.
We will work with you, and your case worker if you have one, to develop an individualized plan that will provide the most benefit to you and your child.
All participants in supervised visits and monitored/supervised exchanges are conditioned and contingent upon any pre-existing custody/visitation orders, pre-existing orders of protection and any CPS and/or Foster Care service plans.
Any deviation from these orders or service plans must be approved in writing by the governing agency and/or by court order prior to services being provided. |
